Highway

Intermediate state (between the entrance toolgate and the future).

Liminal space of the expressway.

While observing a village that was to be demolished, the synchronicity of networks suggested the concept of Liminality to me. It quickly became clear that this is what I encountered in the topic of Space in Photography.

There is an entry point: the toolgate, through which I enter the space of the expressway.

At the same time, the exit point and time can only be assumed. What the actual exit point will be will be known later. Unexpected things along the way easily change it and you have practically no influence on this.

There are no people between these points. You can drive hundreds of kilometers without meeting anyone along the way. You become like a low-flying object that must maintain speed and its lane, and the navigator suggests the route.

There is no other way to call driving on such a road than piloting. At the same time, you are limited in your perception of the environment, you need to watch the road and there is no opportunity to “look to the sides”, to be surprised by the beauty of objects and landscapes flying by. Your creation records them in the background, but it is primarily occupied with the road, and it cannot make mistakes.

I installed a camera in the passenger seat, to the right of me, attached a monitor to control the image next to the navigator, a button on the gearshift lever and began to record the high-speed road on which I am moving.

In this project, I have collected some images that seem worthy of attention to me for various reasons.
